Our History

In 1986, on a card table and with a desk borrowed from his father, Royce and Linda Lewis created Capital Mortgage Services. With the mission of helping people obtain a piece of “the American Dream” through home ownership, Royce and Linda grew Capital Mortgage Services from the humblest of beginnings as mortgage loan originators into a complete mortgage operation consisting of a billion-dollar servicing portfolio, with clients across the 50 states and the Virgin Islands. Due to their partnership, Capital Mortgage Services has celebrated 36 years of success in an industry where longevity is a rarity.

TODAY

Since its founding in 1986 by Royce and Linda Lewis, Capital Mortgage Services (CMS) has dedicated over 38 years of focused energy to create a mortgage banking business model that provides innovative solutions for our clients. We established a correspondent channel in 2008, onboarding up to 200 lenders over the years, many of whom continue to benefit from our services today. Each client enjoys a strong, professional, yet personal relationship with us.

Following the passing of our beloved owner, we took a year to mourn, restructure, and renew our energy. Now, the powerhouse is back, with added strength and focus. Borrowers aren’t just a loan number but a part of the Capital Mortgage family. Our carefully assembled staff of mortgage business professionals stands ready to assist homeowners and real estate professionals to achieve their desired financing at highly competitive rates and terms, with care and service second to none. We’ve also expanded our portfolio to better serve our clients.

What We Do

Capital Mortgage Services (CMS) is an independent mortgage banking aggregator that has a retail, correspondent and wholesale channel, including non-delegated and delegated correspondent programs. Our professionals are dedicated to our partners and invested in their success.

If your borrowers need more flexible mortgage solutions, we offer a comprehensive range of loan products and competitive pricing, delivered with the tools you need for a successful closing.

CMS also purchases closed, funded residential loans from our expansive network of correspondent partners in bulk or on a flow basis. We provide an origination platform (LOS) and point of sale (POS), allowing for a shared service business model, positioning our partners to cut costs, streamline loan processing while increasing revenue.

CMS is an approved seller/servicer with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, plus a seller/issuer to Ginnie Mae (USDA, VA and FHA). We are proud to present an array of products to our clients, both agency and non-agency products, to meet the customer’s specific needs.

THE DEPARTMENT MAINTAINS A RECOVERY FUND TO MAKE PAYMENTS OF CERTAIN ACTUAL OUT OF POCKET DAMAGES SUSTAINED BY BORROWERS CAUSED BY ACTS OF LICENSED MORTGAGE BANKER RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATORS. A WRITTEN APPLICATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE RECOVERY FUND MUST BE FILED WITH AND INVESTIGATED BY THE DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE PAYMENT OF A CLAIM.
